Shell Orientation (Blue Book) Training
Location: Pennsylvania College of Technology (12880 Route 6 Wellsboro, PA 16901)
When: Every Thursday starting at 8:00AM

Due to our contractors being spread far apart and for their convenience, we are not arranging the Blue Book Orientations.
- The UA HSE Contractor Handbook Presentation and UA Onshore Wells Contractor Minimum HSE Expectations are available for downloading at the top of the page and must be reviewed with the crews. Directions for ordering Handbooks are just below.
- Contractors should designate someone from their HSE department to present the material to the crews. (Shell does not have a “train the trainer” presentation.) The presenter should attend the Orientation given by someone else before they begin to present the training.
- The crews must be given a card showing the Training presented, the employees name, the instructor’s name, and the date given. (Shell does not require a specific card for this, but the card must be with them and a copy with their Supervisor.)
- Questions will be asked once onsite by HSE personnel, especially around the Life Saving Rules. If the crew member knows nothing about Shell's policies, he will need to be retrained; the training instructor will also be visited by Shell HSE personnel to review any gaps.
- If the contractor does not have someone from your company who can perform the Blue Book, PSAI Safety can be contacted by the contractor to perform the training. Covering cost will need to be discussed with the Shell OSRs and Superintendant. (PSAI (361)-241-9423)

Lifting & Hoisting:
If your company will be performing any Lifting & Hoisting on a Shell location please ensure that you have contacted Eamonn Young our Lifting & Hoisting SME, weeks in advance before first the scheduled date to work on a Shell location. This includes the following items:
- Cranes
- Rigging
- Forklift
- Manlift
- Winches on the rig.
- Manrider winch
- Pole Trucks
- Equipment with padeyes on it to be lifted by a crane.

Equipment Reviews:
If you have equipment coming to a Shell location please contact our OSRs & HSSE Team in advance before you are scheduled to work on a Shell location so that we may send someone to review the equipment. This will help to ensure we have safe equipment on location and reduce issues being discovered on equipment when it arrives on location.
